When couture dress designer Elizabeth Copeland of Bentley+Lace asked me to photograph one of her new dresses, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. She needed the images for her website and marketing right away, so I wasted no time contacting my lovely young model, Natalie, and her mother. When they saw a picture of the dress, they were elated!
Maplehurst Farm, a beautiful local wedding venue, agreed to allow us to photograph at their location. Next, we lined up talented hairstylist Areca Hollinsworth of Hair by Areca and Natasha Gendron, make-up artist extraordinaire, to style our young lady.
Finally, I asked the incredible Patty at Sustainable Blooms by Garden Treasures to create a bouquet and floral hairpiece for Natalie. With very little to go on other than a photo of the dress, she came up with simply gorgeous florals to complement the color of the couture gown.
Here’s the catch: because we were pressed for time, we had to do the outdoor session in our cold Washington February weather! Natalie was a real trooper and you’d never know by looking at these images that she was…shall we say…a bit freezing!
