I apologize for my absence from the Bella Vita Creative blog, but, if any of you out there have ever planned a wedding, you may understand.
I’ve been nose-to-the-grindstone busy with helping plan all the wedding details for my daughter’s wedding, everything from designing the Save-The-Date cards and wedding invitations to putting together the reception slideshow (still yet to be done)!
I’ve been surprised that THE most time-consuming task is research. Yes, researching vendors for everything under the sun and where to buy everything wedding-related. The Etsy website has been my biggest goldmine; I’ve found lots of unique creations there, including wedding streamers and a fascinator for my hair. Who knew?!
Amidst all of the hubbub, I thought that I would share a few photos leading up to the big day (less than two weeks away). I don’t want to forget these special times and plan to write more about it later, after I’ve had a chance to de-compress. I’ve enjoyed staying constantly busy so that I don’t have to think about the inevitable let-down when the realization hits me that my daughter’s room is empty and she is a married woman!
For the last three years, my daughter has been a college student while living at home and, God willing, will receive her bachelor’s degree in English this Saturday (one week ahead of her wedding). So much to process and so little time.
I made a 12×12 reception book for the wedding guests to sign (sort of like a yearbook, only more elegant). With my nose to the grindstone so much, I didn’t really think about how big the book would be until the FedEx guy dropped it off . . . I opened it and I think my first words were, “Wow!” I’m so glad I put the time into it (see photos, below, and on my Facebook page, linked above).
The photos of my daughter alone were taken one evening in our ‘yard’ as the sun was setting. I use the word ‘yard’ loosely, as it’s mostly high grass and blackberry bushes, but they provide the perfect bokeh for photography. She’s been such a cooperative model for me and I’m sure going to miss having her around. Not gonna cry, not gonna cry . . .
I’ll be checking in again on the other side of the wedding. I’m sure I’ll have lots of tales and photos to share!
